You can’t win them all but you can certainly be proud of the work that you do!

In the spring/summer of 2019, the City of Chilliwack through its public art program, held a contest for local artists to submit artwork to be displayed as streetlight banners throughout the City. This was my submission concept which was based on the #sharechilliwack campaign of Tourism Chilliwack. The background of the banner is intended to represent the iconic of Mt. Cheam/Lady Peak as well as the green valley floor surrounded by Chilliwack’s rivers and creeks. The silhouettes in the foreground are figures to represent the things that Chilliwack is known for. The light blue, dark green, light green and white coloring is to match the City of Chilliwack’s logo.

Ultimately this concept was not selected as the adjudicating committee gravitated towards painted works of art as opposed to “computer-generated” works.

Although I should point out that these were not “computer-generated” but were instead “artist-generated” using a computer; slight technicality ;)

All that being said, I certainly had fun creating these and if they can’t be hung on a streetlight, then I can share them here instead :)
